DeaconTheodore Brooks was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. He grew up in a Roman Catholic household where he heard the gospel but did not understand what a personal relationship with Christ meant. At the age of 12 when one is normally confirmed in the Catholic church, he decided not to be. He spent his days in high school seeking after what pleased him, which led to substance abuse after graduation and for years following. He did not attend college until 3 years after high school, at which point he was growing weary of the lifestyle he'd been leading. He met with and got involved with people in the Rastafarian cult who seemed to have answers to the questions he had and also provided justification for the life that he was living. During that time, Theodore met and married his first wife. It wasn't until 3 months after their first child was born that he gave his life to the Lord, renouncing his cultish practices and started attending a non-denominational evangelical church. Eventually, Theodore had 2 additional children and it was after the birth of the 3rd child that his first wife walked out on him and the kids. It was during this time that Theodore learned to rely upon the Lord for his every need and grew to truly and deeply appreciate the sacrifice Jesus has made for all humanity.
Theodore spent 5 years with sole custody raising his three children with an amazing support group of friends and family and the ever-steady help of Jesus. Oftentimes when he was asked how he could raise three kids on his own, he would ask if people wanted the whole story or a one word answer...that being "Jesus." He has since met and fallen in love with his wonderful wife Heidi, whom he met at Harvest. She has been an ever- present reminder of God's love and mercy, and it has truly been a joy to share his life and children - Addis, Evan, and Hayla with her.
Theodore joined Harvest St. Louis-West as part of the core group planting the church in 2007 and as a charter member has served in worship ministry from the beginning. He has also volunteered his time with the Harvest Student Ministry and is currently leading a Small Group with Heidi.
In his free time, Theodore enjoys playing music-bass guitar and drums, loves leisurely afternoons with his family when time allows, loves to travel, and is a huge fan of J.R. Tolkien's work, especially The Lord of the Rings.
